Llao Llao is a quiet peninsula west of town with short hikes and lake views. Crime is rare, but it is isolated at night, so plan transport and finish trails before dark.
Llao Llao is the peninsula at the western end of the Circuito Chico, about 25 kilometers from the center. It is known for its lakeside hotel, forest trails, small viewpoints and the short climb up Cerro Llao Llao. The area is quiet with little crime, mostly hotels, lodges and national-park trails, and few shops or restaurants. It works as a day trip by bus or tour, or as an overnight stay if you want to be close to the trails and don't mind being far from the center's nightlife. Getting around depends on buses, taxis and your own transport, so confirm return times in advance. Trails are well used in summer but can be empty off-season, so hike with others or tell someone your route.
