Mendoza, Argentina
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Mendoza.
Up-and-coming area east of downtown with local vibe, good dining, and growing nightlife. Safe around main areas, more authentic than tourist zones.
Emerging area just east of downtown. Digital nomads and young professionals are moving here for a more local vibe than the tourist center. The area around Plaza Godoy Cruz, Avenida San Martin, and Palmares Shopping is safe with police around and good lighting. More laid-back than downtown. Mix of cafes, boutique shops, artisan markets, and residential streets. Dining scene has gotten better - traditional parrillas, international fusion, and the 1884 Francis Mallmann restaurant. Music bars, craft beer places, and cocktail lounges stay busy until midnight on weekends. Feels more authentically Argentine than tourist areas but still safe and walkable. Less English here so basic Spanish helps, though restaurant staff are patient. Some areas away from the main plazas get empty after 10 PM, so stick to lit commercial streets at night.
