Yerevan, Armenia
Kentron is Yerevan's central district with Republic Square, Northern Avenue, and main cultural sites. Safe and tourist-friendly with good walkability, lots of cafes, and active evenings.
Kentron is the central district where most visitors spend their time. Republic Square has pink tufa stone buildings and dancing fountains that run every evening in summer. Northern Avenue, a 450-meter pedestrian street with cafes and shops, connects the square to the Opera House. The area stays busy until midnight or later - locals and tourists fill the outdoor tables, street performers play music, and the lighting is good throughout. You'll see plenty of police, especially around Republic Square and Northern Avenue. Restaurants and cafes here speak English since they get a lot of international visitors. You'll see other people eating alone with books or laptops, so it doesn't feel odd. The historic Kond quarter is technically part of Kentron, but its narrow medieval streets aren't safe after dark.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
The Cascade area has the giant stairway monument surrounded by cafes and galleries. Safe with an artistic vibe, especially if you like cafe culture. Prices are higher than other areas.
The Opera and Swan Lake area has the National Opera House and lakeside cafes. Safe with a cultural atmosphere. Mid to upscale pricing.
Kond is Yerevan's old quarter with 17th-century architecture and narrow medieval streets. Interesting for daytime visits but poor lighting makes it unsafe at night. Visit during daylight only.
