Brisbane, Australia
Cliff-top peninsula with Brisbane's best city views, riverside walks, and adventure climbing.
Kangaroo Point is basically a residential area with really good city views from the cliffs. It's quite safe and peaceful, with regular joggers and walkers around, especially in the evenings. The river walks are well-lit and you'll usually see other people around, so it doesn't feel isolated. The downside is there's not much in terms of restaurants or bars - you'll need to ferry or drive elsewhere for food. But if you want somewhere quiet to stay with great views and easy ferry access to the city, it works well. The Story Bridge climb thing is pretty popular and well-supervised if you're into that kind of activity. It's more about the scenery and peaceful vibes than nightlife, which suits some solo travelers perfectly. Just don't expect much happening locally after dark.
