Brisbane, Australia
Trendy riverside suburb with excellent cafes, weekend farmers markets, and arts venues.
New Farm is a really nice area for solo travelers - it's got that trendy but safe vibe where you'll see lots of young professionals and families. The riverside walks are great and always have people around, so you never feel isolated. Brunswick Street has tons of cafes where solo dining is completely normal - the staff are used to it and won't make you feel awkward. The Saturday farmers market is busy and friendly, plus it brings in a good crowd which adds to the security. New Farm Park is perfect for hanging out during the day, and the Powerhouse has decent cultural stuff if you're into that. The ferry connections are actually pretty scenic and reliable for getting around. Since it's gentrified, it feels quite safe compared to the party areas, and there's enough going on that you won't get bored.
