Details

South Bank works really well for solo travelers - the whole area feels safe with good lighting and plenty of people around, even at night. Streets Beach has lifeguards until late and you'll see other women there alone without any issues. The museums and gallery areas stay busy during the day, and solo visitors are totally normal - you won't feel out of place at all. Weekend markets bring in lots of families which adds to the safe atmosphere. Restaurants here are used to solo diners, from the casual spots near the markets to the nicer riverside places. The walking paths along the river are well-maintained and have regular foot traffic. It's probably one of the safest areas in Brisbane, plus there's always something going on culturally if you want entertainment.
