A convenient but mixed area: busy and fine by day, while the station surroundings and the Bogenmeile strip need extra care late at night. It is not the best place to stay, but easy to pass through safely.
The main train station and the Bogenmeile, a strip of bars and clubs built into the railway viaduct arches, make up this area. Most visitors arrive here. By day it is an ordinary busy transport hub with shops, a shopping center and the Rathausgalerien nearby. At night the Bogenmeile becomes Innsbruck's main nightlife strip, popular with students and young people, and also the place where drunk or aggressive people are most likely to turn up. The station area draws loitering groups late at night too, and police pay it extra attention. It is still safer than the stations in most large European cities, but use the lit, busy main streets, skip the underpasses and quiet corners after midnight, and take a tram, bus or night taxi to your accommodation. By day there is no concern, and it is fine for a quick meal or coffee.

GoodAreas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
A local neighborhood with independent bars and the best river views in the city. It is safe and friendly, but the quiet side streets and the river path are best avoided alone late at night.
Wilten is a local district with a good cafe and bar street and easy tram links. It is good value and still feels safe at night, apart from the area toward the train station, which is more mixed.
Pradl is a quiet, budget-friendly residential district with good transport links. There is little going on in the evenings, but it works as a base if you do not mind the commute to the center.
