Details

Angkor Archaeological Park is 6-7km north of town with over 400 acres of temples including Angkor Wat. This is a day-trip destination, not somewhere you stay. The complex is clear of landmines - confirmed by multiple sources. Tourist Police are active throughout the park with an office at the ticket booth. Main concerns during the day are heat and souvenir sellers. Dress code is enforced: shoulders and knees covered with actual clothing, not scarves. Guards turn people away. No exceptions. The park opens early for sunrise viewing. Most visitors spend 1-3 days seeing different temples. You can't walk from town - hire a tuk-tuk for the day ($15-20) or book through your hotel. Grab and PassApp don't work inside the park. The 'Small Circuit' covers Angkor Wat, Bayon, and Ta Prohm in one day. The 'Grand Circuit' adds more temples like Preah Khan. Go early to avoid crowds and heat, which can hit 35-39°C (95-102°F) in hot season. Bring water, sunscreen, and walking shoes.
