Details

Across the river from Old Market, Wat Bo has boutique hotels, upscale restaurants, and cocktail bars like Miss Wong and Laundry Bar. Time Out ranked it Asia's 3rd coolest neighborhood. The area is named after Wat Bo Pagoda, which has 19th-century wall paintings worth seeing. Wat Bo Road and Street 26 have become the nightlife alternative to Pub Street - less backpacker crowds, more thirty-somethings with money to spend. Prices are higher than Old Market, but food and drinks are better quality. The bars and restaurants keep foot traffic going until late, so walking around at night feels safe on main roads. Some side alleys get dark. English is common since places cater to international visitors. It's about a 10-minute walk to Pub Street if you want that scene, but Wat Bo is quieter.
