Luxor, Egypt
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Luxor.
This is where most people stay - safest area with everything in walking distance and visible police presence. Vendor attention gets exhausting, but the infrastructure and security make up for it.
Most tourists stay around Luxor Temple, where the ancient site sits lit up at night next to modern hotels and restaurants. The Corniche runs along the Nile with a walking path that gets busy with tourists, vendors, and horse carriages. You'll find international restaurants, cafes with Wi-Fi, and hotels where staff speak English. Tourist Police are visible around the temple and main streets. The downside is vendors approach you constantly about felucca rides, tours, and souvenirs. You need to get comfortable saying no repeatedly. The area stays lit and active until 10-11pm, especially along the Corniche where Egyptian families walk and tourists sit at riverside cafes. Solo dining is normal - restaurants are used to single travelers sitting with books or laptops. English menus are standard.
