Details

Martintar is where Nadi's bars and nightclubs are concentrated along Martintar Road - Ice Bar, The Hive, Loafers Bar, Ed's Bar, O'Reilly's Irish Pub, Traps Bar, Havana Nightclub, all within walking distance of each other. It's quiet during the day, picks up at night, and bars close around 1am. The crowd is mixed: office workers, backpackers, resort guests, locals. The area is relatively safe in groups because of the resort hotels nearby, venue security, and crowds. Street lighting is decent and taxis are easy to find. If you stick to the main bar strip and go with people you've met at your hostel, it's manageable. Ice Bar does Latin nights and rugby screenings. O'Reilly's has live bands and quiz nights. Traps Bar has dance floors. The Hive gets the backpacker crowd. Happy hour specials are common - Ice Bar does two beer jugs for FJ$35. Don't walk to or from your accommodation, even short distances. Always take a taxi after dark. Drink spiking isn't commonly reported but use standard precautions.
