Helsinki, Finland
10 uncomfortable travel moments most of us run into at some point. Our guide shows you exactly how to respond to each one, so you never blank when it matters. Used by women from 50+ countries.
Design-focused area with shops, galleries, and good cafes. More sophisticated than other neighborhoods but still relaxed. Higher prices than elsewhere.
Punavuori is the center of Helsinki's Design District - 25 streets with 200+ shops, galleries, museums, and restaurants spread across here and neighboring areas. Finnish design brands, vintage furniture, independent boutiques, craft studios, specialty coffee, and natural wine bars. It's more polished than Kallio but not stuffy - people browse design shops in jeans. During the day you get design professionals, tourists, and students. Restaurant staff speak good English since the area draws international design tourists. Some cafes transition to wine bars in the evening with small plates. Street lighting is good and police patrol regularly given all the shops and restaurants. Feels safe even late at night, with people moving between places. Close to central Helsinki so you're not isolated. The crowd is more international and progressive than other areas.
