Accra, Ghana
Accra's wealthy suburb with modern amenities and international restaurants. Safe and comfortable but everything's expensive and downtown is far. Good if you want Western-style comfort.
East Legon is where Accra's wealthy live in modern gated homes. Mix of luxury residential streets, trendy cafes, international restaurants, and nightlife spots. Expensive cars, well-dressed locals, and young professionals at places like Liv Resto Lounge and Food Garage. A&C Mall has international shopping and dining. Good police presence and private security guards outside buildings and restaurants. Better street lighting than most of Accra, main roads feel safe during the day. Eating alone is normal - plenty of women in cafes and restaurants solo. English widely spoken for expats and visitors. Everything costs more than local areas - tourist prices plus premiums for safety and comfort. Stick to main roads at night and use Uber instead of walking far. Stays busy late which helps with safety. Far from downtown, so factor in taxi costs for exploring other parts of Accra.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Luxury area near the airport with high-end dining and embassies. Safe during the day but dangerous at night after 10pm. Best for business travelers wanting convenience and upscale amenities.
Labone sits between Cantonments and Osu as Accra's fine dining area. Safe, upscale, good for food. Less nightlife than Osu but strong restaurant scene.
Osu centers on Oxford Street with Accra's main nightlife and most diverse restaurant scene. Busy international crowd makes eating and going out alone feel normal. Safe on the main street, but side roads get sketchy at night.
