Details

Lan Kwai Fong is Hong Kong's main party district - a compact L-shaped area of steep streets packed with bars and clubs. Crowds spill onto the street every weekend night. The scene is young, international, drinking-focused - finance workers, English teachers, university students, tourists. Quiet during the week, but Thursday through Saturday the streets get so packed police close them to traffic. Every bar blasts different music, chaotic soundtrack. By midnight people drink in the streets because venues are full. The crowds and police mean violent crime is rare, but you'll deal with drunk people trying to chat you up. Watch your drink - spiking incidents reported. Rosé bar aims for safer atmosphere with mirrored walls and good lighting. Well-lit, central, easy to get a taxi out. More university party than sophisticated nightlife - fun if that's your thing, exhausting if not.
