Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR
Upscale dining and bar district built along a hillside escalator. Good restaurants, sophisticated nightlife scene, safe streets. More about quality than partying.
SoHo is packed with restaurants, bars, and galleries climbing the hillside between Central and Mid-Levels. The Mid-Levels Escalator runs through it, which helps since the streets are steep - you can hop between places by escalator instead of walking. Quiet during the day except lunch spots, then crowds come out at night. More sophisticated drinking and dining than Lan Kwai Fong's party scene. Draws finance people, expats, and tourists who want good food and drinks without the university crowd. Everything is in English, solo dining is normal everywhere. You'll pay tourist prices but the quality is there. Well-lit streets and police around since it's close to Central. Safe to walk even after midnight when people are still out. The area is compact so you can hit multiple places in one night, and the escalator gets you home if you've had too much.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Traditional Hong Kong mixed with newer cafes and restaurants. More local feel than tourist areas, still safe and well-connected.
Main shopping area where locals buy fashion, cosmetics, and electronics. Safe, busy all hours, more affordable than Central. Authentic local feel, less English but still manageable.
Central is the business district with the best English access, safety, and transport connections. Costs more but makes sense if you want easy navigation and a safe base.
