Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR
Business by day, bar scene by night. Live music venues, dining from street food to upscale. Safe due to crowds but watch your drink carefully in bars.
Wan Chai sits between Hong Kong's business district and its party past. Office towers a few blocks from Lockhart Road's bar strip that still has traces of the area's old gentleman's club reputation. During the day it's business people grabbing lunch at street food stalls or cafes. Evenings mix after-work drinks with tourists hitting the bars. The area has cleaned up a lot - new cocktail bars and live music venues replaced many old establishments. Carnegies, Joe Bananas, and The Wanch have live music and dance floors. Dirty Laundry (hidden behind a fake laundromat) does craft cocktails. Feels safe at night because it's always busy - people around constantly. Canadian government notes drink spiking incidents happen here more than other areas, so watch your drink. Solo dining works, from cheap local spots to hotel restaurants. MTR and tram make getting around easy. Walking distance to Central and Causeway Bay.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Main Kowloon tourist area with harbor views, all budget levels for accommodation, shopping and culture nearby. Safe, English-friendly, but more crowded and touristy than Hong Kong Island.
Main shopping area where locals buy fashion, cosmetics, and electronics. Safe, busy all hours, more affordable than Central. Authentic local feel, less English but still manageable.
Main party district with packed bars and clubs in a compact area. Relatively safe due to crowds and police but attracts unwanted attention, requires drink vigilance. Better for party seekers than quiet solo drinkers.
