Kochi, India
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Kochi.
Secure port area with luxury hotels. Maximum safety, minimal local culture. Good for people prioritizing security over experiencing actual Kochi. Ferry to attractions.
Artificial island from the 1930s, now has the modern port, naval base, and some luxury hotels. Primarily a working port, not a tourist area. Hotels like Taj Malabar and Grand Hotel have waterfront views and upscale amenities. Connected to mainland and Fort Kochi by bridges and frequent ferries (boats every few minutes during the day). Very secure - port security, hotel staff, limited public access. But there's nothing to do except hotel facilities and designated waterfront walks. You'll ferry or taxi to Fort Kochi for actual sightseeing and restaurants, then come back here to sleep. Maximum safety and comfort at luxury prices, but isolated from real Kochi. A safe, sterile base for people who prioritize security over experiencing local culture.
