Mumbai, India
The waterfront promenade that's safe for walking anytime. Good for a peaceful walk with sea views, not really about destinations.
Marine Drive is the 3-kilometer waterfront curve along the Arabian Sea - they call it Queen's Necklace because of how the lights look at night. It's genuinely one of the safer places in Mumbai to walk anytime. Joggers show up at 6 AM, couples walk at midnight. The pedestrian path stays busy with families, people exercising, and locals sitting on the concrete blocks watching the water. Food vendors sell pav bhaji, bhel puri, and corn. Police come by regularly and the whole stretch has lights. Art Deco buildings line one side with apartments, consulates, and restaurants like Pizza by the Bay. Staff speak English at the restaurants. This is more about walking and watching the sea than specific destinations - it's where people go to escape the rest of the city for a bit. Sunset (5:30-7 PM) or early morning are good, but night has its own thing going.
