Dublin, Ireland
Student area with cheap accommodation, safe streets, and buses to the center. Feels like real Dublin.
Rathmines has students, young professionals, and international residents. It feels like everyday Dublin - people shopping, students getting coffee, families going to the park. Rathmines Road has cafes, restaurants, pubs, and shops for locals, not tourists, so prices are better. Safe to walk around day and night with good lighting and foot traffic. Popular with travelers who want affordable accommodation in a safe area with buses to the center (15-20 minutes). More laid-back than central Dublin. Eating alone is normal since lots of students and single people live here. Less polished than Ranelagh, no tourist infrastructure like Temple Bar, which is the point - it's regular Dublin at regular prices.
