Details

The shopping district - Grafton Street is the main pedestrian street, St Stephen's Green is a 22-acre park nearby. Busy from morning to evening with street performers, shoppers, tourists, and office workers getting lunch. The park has lawns, paths, and a duck pond if you need a break from crowds. Eating alone is normal since there are business people, shoppers, and tourists everywhere. Bewley's Café (from 1927) has art deco interior and welcomes solo diners. Foot traffic and police presence make it feel safe, but pickpockets work Grafton Street and the park - keep bags zipped and phones out of sight. Gets quieter around 11pm when shops close. Central location - easy to walk to Trinity College and Temple Bar, or catch buses to other areas. Tourist prices and peak-hour crowds are the downside.
