Via del Pratello & Porta Saragozza

Pratello is the spot for a casual night out, and Saragozza is a quiet local neighborhood at the foot of the San Luca portico. Both are comfortable for someone on their own, apart from the noise and crowds late on Pratello.

West of the center, Via del Pratello is a pedestrian-friendly street of pubs, taverns and small bars, where students, artists and locals gather on warm evenings. It is a good choice for a casual night out, and the crowds make it feel safe, though it gets noisy and some drunkenness is common late at night. Further out, Via Saragozza is a long porticoed street of traditional cafes, bakeries and small restaurants. It leads to Porta Saragozza and the start of the 3.8-kilometer portico up to the Sanctuary of San Luca on the hill. The Saragozza side is residential and quiet. Eating and drinking alone are easy, but English is less common than in the center, so a few Italian phrases help.
