Piazza Bellini is the student nightlife area with cheap drinks and an international crowd. Welcoming for solo travelers, but stick to the well-lit square itself.
Piazza Bellini is where students and artists hang out at night. The square has excavated ancient Greek walls in the center and bars around the edges. It's near the conservatory and university, so it stays busy even on weeknights. Outdoor seating at Caffè dell'Epoca (called Peppe Spritz) and Intra Moenia fills up by 9 PM with people drinking cheap spritzes. The vibe is more intellectual than party - writers with notebooks, musicians with instruments, students speaking different languages. Common to see people drinking alone, reading or people-watching. The crowd is university students, Erasmus exchange students, local artists, travelers. Lots of English since international students come here. Main streets around the square stay busy and lit until 2 AM on weekends. The narrow side streets get dark and empty though. Stick to the square itself and main approaches. Police patrol Thursday through Saturday nights. It's not clean or fancy - mismatched tables, plastic cups, questionable bathrooms. But that's how it is.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Centro Storico is the historic heart of Naples with great food and street life. Worth visiting for the experience, but requires awareness especially after dark. Go during the day for pizza and sights, then head to safer areas for evening.
Chiaia is the upscale waterfront area with designer shopping and good safety. More expensive and less authentically Neapolitan, but a comfortable base if that's your priority.
Vomero is the residential hilltop neighborhood with good restaurants and a calm atmosphere. Safe and local, but you'll need the funicular to reach tourist sites.
