Naples, Italy
Someone grabs your arm. A taxi goes off-route. A guy won't leave you alone. This free guide covers what to say and do.
Posillipo is the wealthy hilltop coastal area with good views but far from everything. Very safe, quiet, and expensive. More like a day trip destination than a place to stay.
Posillipo is where wealthy Neapolitans live in villas overlooking the bay. Quiet residential streets, expensive cars, restaurants with high prices for the sunset views. It's far from the historic center and tourist sites, so it feels disconnected from the Naples most visitors see. The waterfront area around Marechiaro has seafood restaurants and small beaches. Parco Virgiliano has walking paths with views. You can spend the day along the seaside, visit Gaiola beach and its underwater archaeological park, or have long lunches. Very safe - essentially no crime because it's a wealthy area. The atmosphere is quiet and residential, not lively. Less English since tourists don't usually stay here, though nicer restaurant staff speak it. The problem is distance - you need taxis or buses to go anywhere else in Naples. Not much nightlife or budget dining. Good for a day trip if you want views and seafood, not if you want to experience Naples itself.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Vomero is the residential hilltop neighborhood with good restaurants and a calm atmosphere. Safe and local, but you'll need the funicular to reach tourist sites.
Chiaia is the upscale waterfront area with designer shopping and good safety. More expensive and less authentically Neapolitan, but a comfortable base if that's your priority.
Piazza Bellini is the student nightlife area with cheap drinks and an international crowd. Welcoming for solo travelers, but stick to the well-lit square itself.
