Kingston, Jamaica
Kingston's cultural tourism area with Devon House estate and Bob Marley Museum. Very safe during the day with good food, but it gets quiet and residential after dark.
Hope Road runs from New Kingston up into the hills and includes two major tourist sites - Devon House and the Bob Marley Museum. Devon House is a restored colonial mansion with manicured grounds that's now a food hub. You'll find Italian pizza, jerk stations, the famous Devon House ice cream, and upscale Jamaican restaurants all on one property. Sundays get packed with local families - expect long lines for ice cream. The Bob Marley Museum is about 10 minutes away in the reggae legend's former home. Both places have good security and feel safe during operating hours. The surrounding neighborhood is upscale residential with embassies, so police patrols are common. Staff speak English since they deal with international visitors. After the sites close in early evening, the area becomes quiet residential - use taxis instead of walking even though it's generally safe.
