Kingston, Jamaica
The business district and safest base in Kingston. Good hotels, restaurants, and infrastructure, though you still need to use taxis at night and stay aware.
New Kingston is the business and hotel district in uptown Kingston where most tourists base themselves. It's full of office buildings, embassies, hotels, and restaurants. During the day you'll see young professionals working in cafes on laptops, and Emancipation Park stays busy with joggers and families. The mix of tourists, expats, and local workers means eating alone doesn't feel awkward here. Restaurant staff speak English since they're used to international business travelers. Police are visible around the embassy areas and street lighting is decent on main roads. The area around Knutsford Boulevard and Oxford Road stays active until around 10pm with people at restaurants and bars. It's safer than most of Kingston, but you still need to taxi after dark and stick to well-lit main streets if you walk.

Kingston's cultural tourism area with Devon House estate and Bob Marley Museum. Very safe during the day with good food, but it gets quiet and residential after dark.
Kingston's wealthiest residential area in the Blue Mountain foothills. Extremely safe but isolated from dining and attractions, so you'll need taxis for everything.
The main transport and commercial hub with authentic local atmosphere and lots of street food. Safe during daylight but crowded and chaotic - watch your belongings and leave before evening.
