Details

Jabal Weibdeh (also spelled Lweibdeh) is the arts district - galleries, cafes, pine-lined streets. Quieter and more residential than Rainbow Street. Artists, writers, and young professionals live here, which gives it a more relaxed, progressive feel. Darat al-Funun (contemporary art center) and Rumi Cafe are the main draws. You'll see people reading or working on laptops at places like Rumi and Fann Wa Chai - totally normal here. The residential streets feel safe during the day and early evening, but they empty out after 10pm so stick to main areas or grab an Uber. Close enough to Rainbow Street and downtown if you want to explore from here.
