The tourist strip has regular police patrols but areas away from main hotels feel empty at night. Night market runs 6pm-11pm with souvenirs, clothes, and food stalls. Feels safe on the main strip in evenings when families and tourists are around. Has a generic resort town atmosphere - less character than George Town. Most accommodations are family-oriented resorts with higher prices and limited budget options.
