Details

Roma Norte is where all the cool restaurants are - old mansions turned into places like Contramar and Rosetta that you need reservations for weeks ahead. There's a little plaza with a David statue copy where digital nomads camp out at cafes with their laptops all day. Tourist police actually patrol the main streets regularly, especially during dinner rush when the area gets packed. The residential streets are pretty safe too since there's always people walking around. Mercado Roma is this trendy food hall that stays busy until late, which keeps foot traffic going. It's definitely become the 'it' neighborhood - Michelin even noticed - so expect to pay tourist prices for everything. But the trade-off is good security and lots of other solo travelers around.
