Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Marina Vallarta is the quietest and most secure part of Puerto Vallarta, with upscale restaurants and marina views. It has little nightlife and local character, and the main beaches and bars are a ride away.
Marina Vallarta is a planned, upscale district on the north side of the city, built around a yacht marina and golf course, with resort hotels, condo towers and a waterfront promenade. It is quiet, clean, well-lit and heavily secured, with regular patrols and 24-hour security at many buildings, so it feels safe at any hour. Restaurants along Paseo de la Marina serve steak, Italian, Mexican and seafood, many with marina views, and staff speak English. The downside is that there is little street life or nightlife, and you will need taxis or buses to reach the main beaches and bars, which are about 15 to 25 minutes away. It makes sense if you want a quiet stay close to the airport.

ExcellentAreas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
The Zona Romántica is the most convenient and social area for a woman on her own, with walkable streets, plenty of food options and a busy evening scene. Expect street selling and nightlife noise, and be careful with drinks and with late-night routes uphill.
5 de Diciembre is a quiet, cheaper residential area close to Centro. It is easygoing by day and empty at night, so plan on a car for evening trips.
Centro and the Malecón have the old town streets, the seafront walk and busy evenings. The main streets are safe and crowded, the uphill streets are quiet after dark, and street sellers are constant.
