Details

Aldea Zama sits between Pueblo and the beach zone as a planned residential community with modern condos and tree-lined streets. Expats and digital nomads stay here for weeks or months, giving it a more settled feel than the tourist areas. The infrastructure is newer than Centro - better lighting, paved streets, more security - but prices match the beach zone rather than downtown. You'll find upscale restaurants, coworking cafes like Maya Xel and Babel, yoga studios, and boutique shops. English is common since many owners are international. People eat alone at cafes all the time, often camping out for hours with laptops. It's safe to walk around day or night - you'll see families and couples out in evenings. About 2.2 miles from Centro, so close enough to bike to either the beach or downtown. The trade-off is it feels kind of sterile and residential. Not much nightlife or local culture - more of a comfortable base than somewhere interesting to explore.
