What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Maputo.
Developing central area with mixed residential and commercial. More local than tourist areas, more affordable, but needs Portuguese and careful safety awareness.
Coop is developing into a mix of commercial and residential - somewhere between luxury Polana Cimento and more local areas. Near the German Embassy, with local markets, cafes, and restaurants. Feels more like a real neighborhood than the hotel zones. English is less common than Polana or Sommerschield, so Portuguese helps. It's central and cheaper than Polana, but infrastructure and safety vary block by block. Generally safe during the day with normal precautions. Like everywhere in Maputo, you need a car service after dark.
