Pokhara, Nepal
Hilltop village for sunrise views and paragliding launches. Most people visit on day trips or tours because staying overnight means isolation and minimal facilities.
People come to Sarangkot for sunrise over Annapurna and to watch paragliders take off. It's a hilltop village 30 minutes from Lakeside. Views cover Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, the whole valley. Most visitors show up for sunrise then leave. Some basic guesthouses exist if you want to skip the predawn trip up, but facilities are minimal - simple food, basic rooms, spotty English outside the viewpoint. The village is small and undeveloped. Solo travelers usually do this as an organized tour or taxi trip rather than staying over, since you're isolated and far from other tourists. Safe when tour groups are around during the day. At night you're far from emergency services and Tourist Police. The road up is steep and winding - take a vehicle unless you want a 2-hour uphill hike. Worth seeing, but day trips make more sense.

Local market where Nepalis actually shop. Authentic and safe during busy hours but minimal English, constant staring, not tourist-oriented. Daytime visits only.
Quieter, cheaper southern end of the lake with better Annapurna views. Safe during the day but isolated after dark - budget for taxis if you want evening options. Good if you prefer peace over convenience.
Main tourist area along Phewa Lake with hostels, restaurants, and tour shops. Safe during the day, comfortable for solo travelers because you're never the only one. English widely spoken. Keep to main streets after 10pm.
