Details

Magdalena del Mar is between Miraflores and the beach - quieter, more residential, cheaper. Crime rates are low according to Peru's statistics. Local families, parks, Mercado de Magdalena if you want the market experience. Beach access but the water's cold. You'll pay less than Miraflores but English is rare and there's not much tourist infrastructure. Restaurants are cheap and serve local food, menus in Spanish, staff don't speak English. You'll stand out eating alone but people are generally fine with it if you try some Spanish. Gets quiet at night - main avenues only if you're out late. Uber to Miraflores takes 10-15 minutes when you need tourist amenities. Works if you want authentic and affordable and can handle Spanish.
