Lima, Peru
The safest tourist area in Lima with heavy police presence and good infrastructure. You'll pay extra but get reliable security and English-speaking staff.
Miraflores is where most tourists stay because the security is better than elsewhere in Lima. Police are everywhere, streets stay lit, and you can walk around at night without much worry. Parque Kennedy has street performers, craft vendors, and a bunch of cats. Cafes fill up with people on laptops during the day. The coastal boardwalk along the cliffs has ocean views and feels safe to walk after dark because of lighting and foot traffic. You'll pay more for everything here - probably 30-50% more than local neighborhoods - but that's the trade-off for the security setup. Eating alone is normal, restaurant staff usually speak some English. It doesn't feel particularly Peruvian, just touristy and sanitized.
