Lima, Peru
Lima's diplomatic and business district with maximum security and minimum character. Expensive, boring, very safe.
San Isidro is Lima's wealthy district - embassies, business hotels, gated houses with private security. Tree-lined streets, manicured parks, people walking expensive dogs. Security is tight because of all the diplomatic missions. You can walk around at any hour without much concern. Coffee costs 50% more than Miraflores, which already costs more than the rest of Lima. The atmosphere is corporate and sterile. Most restaurants cater to business dinners, so staff speak English. Solo dining is normal - you'll see businesspeople working over meals. Almost no nightlife except hotel bars. It's boring but very safe. You'll Uber to other neighborhoods for anything interesting.
