Kraków, Poland
A residential area across the river with local restaurants and a quiet atmosphere. Lower prices and more authentic than the tourist zones. Not much nightlife but close enough to the center if you want it.
Podgórze is across the Vistula River from Old Town and Kazimierz. It's a residential area that's becoming more popular with young families, artists, and expats. The former Nazi Ghetto site, it's now quiet with a growing cafe scene. Restaurants cover various cuisines - Polish, Italian, Jewish, Middle-Eastern, Georgian, Ukrainian, Indian - at lower prices than the tourist areas. It's peaceful during the day with local markets. Quieter at night than Kazimierz, which is good if you want to sleep. You're about 10-15 minutes from the main tourist sites by foot or tram. Fewer people speak English here than in Old Town, though cafe and restaurant staff usually can.

The nightlife and cafe area with an artistic, historical vibe. Prices are lower than Old Town and it feels more local. Good for people who want bars and culture without being in the main tourist zone.
Residential area between Old Town and Kazimierz. Good restaurants, quiet streets, walking distance to both main areas. Less touristy with a local atmosphere.
This is the main tourist zone with the most infrastructure and English speakers. It stays busy until late and feels safe to walk around. You'll pay more for everything, but you get convenience and access to the medieval center.
