Details

Baixa is Lisbon's safest and most tourist-friendly neighborhood, ideal for solo female travelers. The Tourist Police office at Praça dos Restauradores is specifically there to help visitors, and they patrol Rossio Square until 10 PM. The pedestrian Rua Augusta creates a secure walking environment with constant foot traffic, street performers, and historic cafes where solo visitors feel comfortable. Metro stations have good security and the whole area is well-lit with regular police presence. Be aware that Tram 28 is a pickpocket hotspot due to crowded conditions - keep belongings secure and board early for better positioning. The central location and tourist infrastructure make this the most straightforward area for solo female travelers to navigate safely.
