Doha, Qatar
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Doha.
Lusail is Qatar's new city with modern architecture, luxury shopping, and high-end amenities. Very safe but 23km north of central Doha. Interesting to see Qatar's future vision, but lacks character compared to older areas.
Lusail is a massive planned city 23km north of Doha, built for the 2022 World Cup. Lusail Stadium anchors a district of modern skyscrapers, luxury hotels, and big malls designed for 450,000 residents eventually. Lusail Boulevard runs 1.3km through the center with international restaurants, designer shops, and entertainment. Place Vendôme has 560 luxury stores, Marina Mall has 248 overlooking the water. The waterfront has 42 cafes and restaurants with marina views. Everything is brand new with modern infrastructure including the free Lusail Tram connecting to Doha Metro. The city feels almost artificially perfect - extremely clean, futuristic buildings, high-end amenities, but can feel empty between activity zones. Safe to explore with English everywhere since residents are mostly expats and tourists. The 23km distance from central Doha means you'll need metro or taxis to get anywhere else.
