Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Jeddah.
Luxury waterfront area with hotels, Red Sea views, and high security. Expensive and more international than authentic, but very safe and comfortable.
Al Hamra is on the Corniche waterfront with Red Sea views - wealthy Saudis and expat executives live here in luxury buildings. During the day it's families in parks and joggers on the Corniche. Evenings bring people to waterfront restaurants (Radisson Blu hotels, Turkish places like Khayal and Mr. Hakan's). Red Sea Mall is here with shopping and the IN10SO entertainment center (karting, bowling, arcades). Security is high - hotel guards, building security, police patrols. The Corniche walkway is well-lit and maintained for evening walks once it cools down. Hotel restaurants are comfortable for eating alone, staff speak English. Everything costs more here. It's more of a place to visit for dinner or a walk than a neighborhood to explore.
