Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Jeddah.
Modern area with cafes, international food, and walkable streets. English commonly spoken, safe to be out at night, and less conservative atmosphere than other parts of the city.
Al Rawdah is Jeddah's modern neighborhood with cafes, international restaurants, and actual walkability. It's bounded by Sari Street, Madinah Road, Tahliya Street, and Prince Sultan Road - compact enough to walk within if weather permits. The crowd is expat families, young Saudis, and university students, so a woman sitting alone in a cafe with a laptop doesn't get second looks. Places like Good Hood, Gathering Cafe, and After Six stay open late with good lighting and steady foot traffic. Staff speak English at most spots. You can get Korean at Wu, Lebanese at Burj Al Hamam, and various other cuisines. Streets stay active until 11pm on weekdays, past midnight on weekends. It's safe to walk around though you still need to dress modestly. The area connects well to other parts of the city, making it a practical base.
