Details

Centum City is a planned business, film and shopping district just west of Haeundae along Line 2. It has Shinsegae Centum City, which is among the world's largest department stores, the BEXCO convention centre, the Busan Cinema Center and the Spa Land jjimjilbang (Korean bathhouse). Pavements are wide, security staff are around and the malls connect directly to the subway, so it is well lit, calm and easy to be in on your own. Spa Land is a simple way to try a Korean bathhouse, and the malls have food courts and restaurants with single-portion dishes. Evenings are quiet compared with the beach districts and there is little nightlife, so it suits people who want to shop, rest or use the spa.

Haeundae is the easiest base for a first visit to Busan, with the beach, cafes, markets and subway all close together. The trade-off is crowds in summer and noise around the nightclubs late at night.

Seomyeon is the best-connected base in Busan, with food, shopping and cafes on every block. The nightlife blocks get rowdy late, so it works better if you go out in the day or with a group in the evening.
