Granada, Spain
Cave dwellings and authentic flamenco, but needs caution. Visit during the day, or book organized evening tours with transport included. Don't walk the streets alone after dark.
The Roma neighborhood built into the hillside above Albaicín - famous for cave dwellings and flamenco shows. During the day, the main road (Camino del Sacromonte) is touristy, people climbing to the Abbey and visiting cave museums. Flamenco shows in the caves draw tour groups in the evening around 8-9pm. This neighborhood needs more caution than others. Daytime visits to established venues are fine, but parts of Sacromonte get isolated and dark after sunset. The residential cave areas higher up have minimal lighting and few people at night. Guidebooks and locals specifically warn against wandering the side paths alone after dark. If you're seeing a flamenco show, book with a company that includes transport, or take a taxi both ways. Don't walk. The main road during the day is safe for exploring, taking photos of the white cave homes, visiting the Abbey with its views. Just treat evening visits as a specific event - arrive, watch the show, leave with organized transport.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
The most scenic part of Granada with Moorish architecture and Alhambra views. Go during the day when it's busy. At night, the dark narrow streets in the residential areas aren't worth the risk - take the minibus instead.
The main tourist zone with the Cathedral, famous tapas bars, and best connectivity. Safe, well-lit, English widely spoken. Convenient but generic - doesn't have the character of other neighborhoods.
Safe, quiet residential area with students and families. Good for budget accommodation and authentic local life, but you'll travel to other neighborhoods for dining, nightlife, and sights.
