Soho is the arts district between the old town and the port, known for large street murals, a contemporary art centre and independent cafés. The crowd is younger and the pace is relaxed, and it's easy to spend an afternoon walking from mural to mural or through CAC Málaga and the Centre Pompidou at the port. Restaurants, brunch cafés and craft beer bars fill the streets around Calle Tomás Heredia and the Teatro del Soho. It's busy in the evening but not as rowdy as the old-town squares. Main streets are well lit and used by locals and visitors, but a few blocks on the edge, particularly around Calle Vendeja and the quieter streets near the train station, are unpleasant late at night, so stay on the main streets after dark. English is commonly spoken in cafés and restaurants here.
