Valencia, Spain
The trendy neighborhood with cafes, international food, and nightlife. Safe, LGBTQ+ friendly, good for people who want a creative, cosmopolitan scene. Can feel a bit too hipster/expat-heavy.
Used to be working-class, now it's the trendy neighborhood - indie cafes, vintage shops, restaurants doing everything from traditional paella to fusion food. Young professionals, artists, international people, students. Gets packed Thursday through Saturday nights. The main streets are Calle Cadiz, Calle Sueca, and Calle Cuba with outdoor terraces that fill up from morning coffee through late-night drinks. Lots of people working alone at cafes, women eating solo, totally normal scene. The vibe is creative and welcoming but prices are higher than local areas. It's safe - good lighting, people around late, regular police presence. Also the center of Valencia's LGBTQ+ scene with inclusive bars and events. Downside is it can feel overly trendy and expat-heavy if you want actual Spanish culture rather than international hipster vibes.
