Summary

The business and shopping district with good transport links. Safe and convenient but less charming than other neighborhoods.

Details

Norrmalm is the commercial center around Stockholm Central Station and Drottninggatan shopping street. Lots of international chains, Swedish department stores, and business hotels near the station. Sergels Torg gets busy with foot traffic but it's well-policed. Kungsträdgården park provides some green space. The Royal Opera House is here. Restaurants range from quick lunch places to upscale spots. People eat alone all the time, lots of business travelers working in cafés. Being next to Central Station is convenient but you'll see more tourists and people passing through than locals. English is spoken everywhere. The station area feels less appealing at night than residential neighborhoods, though it's still safe with good lighting and police around.
