Details

Silom is Bangkok's main business district with excellent transport connections via both BTS and MRT lines. During the day, it's very safe with office workers everywhere and good street food around Thaniya Plaza. The area has a split personality though - respectable business district by day, but after 6 PM it shifts to rooftop bars and nightlife. Patpong Night Market is a mix of legitimate shopping stalls and adult entertainment venues, so solo female travelers should approach with caution and stick to the main market areas if they visit. Lumpini Park is a great escape from the city chaos - safe, well-maintained, and locals are welcoming during the evening exercise classes. The business district atmosphere means good security during work hours, but be aware that some areas get a different vibe at night.
