The North Loop is the main dining and nightlife area downtown, with active streets and plenty of counters and patios that suit solo diners. The edges are quiet late at night, so get a ride home after dark.
The North Loop is a former warehouse district along the Mississippi, now the city's main area for restaurants and boutiques. Brick buildings, cobblestone corners and patios fill the blocks, and it's busy from breakfast to late evening with professionals, couples and people heading to Target Field or the restaurants on Washington Avenue. Most places have a bar or counter where a solo diner fits in without any fuss. Streets are well lit and active until the bars close, but the blocks near the freeway and the quieter side streets toward the edges empty out late. Light rail at Target Field and ride-hailing make getting back to a hotel simple.
