Germantown is Nashville's oldest residential neighborhood, a small area just north of Downtown with brick row houses, tree-lined streets and some of the city's best restaurants. It is calm and historic, with fine-dining spots, relaxed cafes and the Nashville Farmers' Market nearby. Solo dining is easy, especially at bars and counters. Streets are well lit around the restaurant blocks, but the area is quiet late at night, and a few blocks past the main strip can feel empty. Take a short rideshare instead of walking to Downtown after dark.

Midtown and Hillsboro Village are busy, student-oriented and central, with easy solo dining and a calmer atmosphere than Downtown. They make a practical base for a solo traveler.
12 South is a walkable neighborhood of boutiques, cafes and bungalows. It is one of the easiest places for a solo woman, with a quieter evening scene than Downtown.
The Gulch is a modern, upscale, well-lit neighborhood just south of Downtown. It is calmer than Broadway but still has plenty of dining and drinking, and the main risks are car break-ins and late-night drunken groups.
