Details

Midtown covers the West End corridor, Music Row and the streets around Vanderbilt University. Hillsboro Village is its walkable, student-oriented strip of cafes, bookshops, a historic cinema and restaurants. It is one of the easier parts of Nashville for a woman alone, with a mix of students, hospital staff, musicians and music-industry workers, and streets that are full of people during the day. Cafes and casual restaurants are comfortable for solo diners, and Midtown has much of the city's LGBTQ+ nightlife. Evenings are livelier than in 12 South and calmer than on Broadway. Some stretches of West End and the blocks between Midtown and Downtown are built for traffic rather than pedestrians, so take a rideshare at night.
