New Orleans, United States
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in New Orleans.
Business and arts district with museums and upscale restaurants. Safe during business hours but empties out at night - use rideshare instead of walking long empty blocks.
The CBD and Warehouse District is where the city does business - office towers, convention centers, business hotels. The Warehouse District near the Mississippi River has museums like the National WWII Museum, art galleries, and upscale restaurants. During business hours there's constant foot traffic, security guards, police around the convention center. Feels safe walking around during the day and early evening, especially where galleries and restaurants stay open. Once offices close around 6pm and museums shut, large sections empty out fast. Streets packed during the day become deserted after dark, with long blocks between restaurants or bars. Like financial districts in other cities - safe when busy, uncomfortably empty at night. The Warehouse District has more evening activity around restaurants, but you'll still want Uber or Lyft instead of walking long distances after dark.
